Our Health Warranty

As responsible breeders, concerned with reducing the occurrence of health related problems in the AWS, we screen all of our breeding stock for a variety of health problems known to occur in the AWS. Additionally, we stand behind our puppies with a written health warranty for those few times when, despite all of our efforts, mother nature does not cooperate.

Unless otherwise noted, this dog, sold by Paul and Lynn Morrison, also known as Little Brownies Kennel, carries the following warranty. No other warranties apply. The warranty is not transferable. The warranty shall cease to be in effect if the buyer fails to register the dog with the American Kennel Club (AKC) or transfer existing AKC registration of the dog to the buyer within six weeks of purchase.

GENERAL HEALTH: At time of delivery, and for a period of 48 hours following delivery, the dog shall be found to be in good health and free of any debilitating illness. It is agreed that "delivery" shall be deemed to be made when the dog is no longer in the immediate control of the seller. Within 48 hours (or the time frame otherwise agreed upon by Little Brownies Kennel) following delivery it shall be the purchaser’s responsibility to have the dog receive a full examination by a licensed Veterinarian and the buyer(s) shall provide proof of such exam. Failure to comply with this requirement shall void this warranty. Costs incurred to conduct the aforementioned examination shall be borne entirely by the purchaser. If, in this time frame, a licensed Veterinarian determines that a debilitating illness exists, Little Brownies Kennel reserves the right to determine the course of action to be taken and is not liable for any treatment not authorized by either Paul or Lynn Morrison.

For genetic disorders, deemed to be debilitating or life threatening by a licensed veterinarian, which are found in the dog prior to its third birthday, Little Brownies Kennel shall, at its option, either replace the dog or provide the purchaser with a partial refund. The purchaser shall provide the seller with a written determination of the dog’s condition no later than 60 days following notification from his/her veterinarian. Seller reserves the right to have his veterinarian review the case with the purchaser’s veterinarian. The seller shall have the exclusive right to determine if the dog will be neutered, spayed, or euthanized prior to any form of refund or replacement being made. Unless otherwise agreed upon by both the seller and the buyer, the buyer shall be fully responsible for all cost incurred to neuter, spay, or euthanize the dog. Any form of refund or replacement shall not be made without the purchaser supplying certification that the dog has been neutered, spayed, or euthanized.

HIPS: Hips shall be certified borderline,  OFA-fair, OFA-good, or OFA-excellent by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). The x-rays must be submitted to the OFA no later than 30 months following the dog’s date of birth. Little Brownies Kennel shall consider no other organization’s determination. Little Brownies Kennel must receive notification of the OFA determination no later than 60 days following the date appearing on the OFA notification letter. The purchaser shall submit a written notice to Little Brownies Kennel along with a copy of the OFA notification letter. In the event that a dysplastic condition exists, Little Brownies Kennel shall, at its discretion, either replace the dog or provide the purchaser with a partial refund.

EYES: Eyes shall be found to be normal by a Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist. Determinations on the condition of the dog's eyes will only be accepted when examination is made by a Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist. Determinations must be made prior to the dog's third birthday. The purchaser shall submit a written notice of the dog's condition to Little Brownies Kennel, along with a copy of the Ophthalmologist’s diagnosis, no later than 60 days following diagnosis. In the event that the eyes are not found to be normal, Little Brownies Kennel shall, at its discretion, either replace the dog or provide the purchaser with a partial refund. Determination of a partial refund shall rest solely with Little Brownies Kennel.
